Park tidy is a big success

More than 40 people rolled up their sleeves at the weekend to help clean up a Mansfield park.

Last month Chad reported how the town’s Rotarians had called on residents to join in with a clean-up day at Berry Hill Park.

Members of Mansfield Rotary Club supervised the clean up, which lasted from 8am-4pm on Saturday, with representatives from this year’s upcoming Miss Mansfield contest and Cornerhouse home going along to help out.

Rotn Andy Hill, club president, said: “It all went extremely well with more than 40 people coming along to help out.

“The whole day was a real group effort and people really got behind the clean-up.

“There were people there who were into their 70s and 80s who were there all day, so I’m sure they had some aches and pains the following day, but it was great to see everybody there.”

Work that needed doing on the park included strimming and general tidying of hedges, path edges, a bandstand tidy-up and a thorough litter pick.
