Zoe Foster, 44, first got Gizmo when he was five-weeks-old from a rescue centre.

Sadly Gizmo disappeared on May 28, 2014, but not just over six years later, Gizmo and Zoe have been reunited.

Zoe said: “Gizmo was rescued from a really bad home.

"I used to carry him around in my clothes as he was so tiny and he used to cry a lot, he wouldn’t eat cat food for a while, he would only eat scraps of human food and he slept by my side every night.

"I tried everything to find him, I called Pet Log after one day to register him missing, I called all local vets, the council, I had posters printed off which I posted through neighbours doors, in shops, outside the front of my house and I posted a missing post on all the missing pet pages on Facebook but nothing.

"It was as if he had just disappeared off the face of the earth.

"It was an awful time, I hardly slept or ate, I just wanted him home.

"I was out late at night just calling and calling him but nothing.”

Then out of the blue Zoe received a phone call from a vetinary practice, after they scanned his microchip, to say he had been found.

Zoe said: “I just couldn’t believe it, my boy was found.

"I always knew deep down though that he would be home. I just didn’t know when.

"It’s all down to his microchip he got home.

"It is important that stray or abandoned cats are checked for a chip either through a vets or a registered rescue.

"This shows the importance of microchipping your pets and keeping their details up to date.”

Zoe, who is a care support worker and has two sons and seven other cats, was told Gizmo had been being fed by a lady in Selston.

Zoe said: “It’s not clear how or when Gizmo got there, I was just so happy he was alive and found.

"Since he’s been home he is settling down more now and is doing well being inside as he had spent a lot of time outside while he was missing.

"Although he was being fed by a lady he still spent a lot of time outside and slept in a shelter she had supplied for him.”
