This means you must stay at home, which is the single most important action you can all take to protect the NHS and save lives.

You must not leave, or be outside of your home except where necessary.

You may only leave home to shop for basic necessities, for you or a vulnerable person, go to work, or provide voluntary or charitable services, if you cannot reasonably do so from home, exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person, this should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area, meet your support bubble or childcare bubble where necessary, but only if you are legally permitted to form one, seek medical assistance or avoid injury, illness or risk of harm, including domestic abuse, and attend education or childcare, for those eligible.

Speaking to BBC East Midlands, MP Mark Spencer, said: “We received advice from the scientific advisors which said the numbers across the East Midlands were going dramatically the wrong way and there was real danger that the NHS would not be able to cope if we continued on this trajectory so the Government were left with no choice other than to take this fairly draconian action in the short term.”

Ashfield District Council has also been working with colleagues across the local health and care system to prepare for the opening of the Vaccination Service at Ashfield Health Village.

The site in opened on January 5, and will support the roll out of the national vaccination programme. In the coming weeks, other locations across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will also open for vaccinations.

The NHS will send letters to eligible people in due course and vaccines will be by appointment only. First priority is for those over the age of 80 and frontline health and social care workers.
