Santa and Mrs Claus are the two final Hucknall Heroes for 2020

As the year came to a close the final Hucknall Hero of 2020 was awarded to Santa and Mrs Claus.

Santa Claus and his wife have based themselves in Hucknall over the last few days, visiting different groups and individuals to spread some festive cheer.

Hucknall Heroes was able to catch up with Mr and Mrs Claus, to present them with their award and thank them for all they’ve done over the last few days.

Hucknall Heroes organiser, Coun Phil Rostance, said: “It’s great that Santa and Mrs Claus have been out and about around the town these past few days, it’s really put a smile on peoples faces.

"After speaking to Santa myself, I know that while he and Mrs Claus have been traveling around the town, they have been keeping socially distant from people when they met them, and have been washing their hands regularly, so they’ve been setting a really good example for us all.

“Because they have been doing so much for people across the town, visiting care homes, seeing youngsters, we thought that we’d show the married couple how valued they’ve been over the latest few days.

“From all the individuals, care homes, youngsters and the people of Hucknall, you are both Hucknall Heroes.

“I also want to use this opportunity to say once more a huge congratulations to every single Hucknall Hero.

"Each one of you has, in your own specific way, helped bring something to the town and to the people of Hucknall, and we are incredibly grateful to you.”

Hucknall Heroes nominations will remain open over the Christmas period, with entries being reviewed in the new year.

Past winners have included two young boys who sold home grown fruit and vegetables to raise money for Hucknall Food Bank, a dance teacher who has been children stay active, the founder a community Facebook page to help people stay connected and a ‘cake angel’ who delivered cupcakes to key workers.
