Thousands of children are being encouraged to make the pictures to ‘spread hope’ amid the ongoing pandemic.

They are part of the rainbows in windows initiative which encourages people to put up drawings of rainbows in their windows for passers by who are out for a walk.

The aim is to bring a smile to people’s faces during this difficult time as well as providing something for the children to do while they are off school and missing their friends.

It is believed the initiative started in Italy, which has been severely affected by coronavirus and some schools have also encouraged children to make the rainbows.

Pupils across Broxtowe and the rest of the UK are stuck at home after the government ordered the closure of all schools in an effort to stem the spread of coronavirus.

We’d love to share more with you so we can create a gallery of them for our website.

If you have decorated your windows or your house with windows, and are happy for us to share them on our website, please contact us via our Facebook page.
