When Lindsey and Michael Clarke made the life-changing decision to relocate 130 miles from Hartlepool to the Nottinghamshire, the emergence of a global pandemic quickly threatened to throw their plans into disarray.

The couple, made the decision to move after Michael was offered a job as an offshore performance manager with E.ON in Nottingham.

With lockdown looming, Lindsey, 47, and Michael, 42, faced a race against time to find a new home and sell their old one before the housing market – along with the rest of the country - shut down.

Lindsey and Michael Clarke sold one house and moved into their Linby home in just two days

But after visiting Bellway’s Sherwood Gate development in Linby, the couple managed to sell their old property in just a day and a half using the housebuilder’s Express Mover scheme.

Lindsey, a self-employed specialist dyslexia teacher, said: “Moving is stressful enough before you add in relocating 130 miles during a global pandemic, Michael’s new job, selling our old house, buying a new one, estate agent fees and the threat of an imminent lockdown looming.”

And as well as the speed of the sale, moving to Nottingham has another big plus for their pair – they can now go and support their beloved football team, Nottingham Forest.

Lindsey said: “I always wanted to live in Nottingham because I have been a Forest fan all my life.

“We had an offer for the house before it officially went on the market and we sold it in a day and a half.

"We could not believe it."
