Team from Papplewick business complete Three Peaks Challenge for music therapy charity impacted by Covid-19 pandemic

A team from a Papplewick business took on the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of a music therapy charity which has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Artist Management Services (AMS) is a Papplewick based company that provides management services to musicians and artists across the UK and internationally.

A team of five AMS employees embarked on the infamous National Three Peaks Challenge, involving climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon in a 24-hour period.

The team raised funds for Nordoff Robbins, a music therapy charity which uses music to enrich the lives of people with life-limiting illnesses, disabilities and feelings of isolation and its valuable services have been impacted by Covid-19.

The team had an initial fundraising target of £1,000, but thanks to the public's incredible generosity, they were able to smash their target by an additional £500.

Spurred on by the outpouring of support, the five climbers succeeded in topping the UK's three tallest peaks within the allotted time, despite having a very limited time to train and prepare.

The climbers were under the age of 30, with only one of the five climbers having completed the National Three Peaks Challenge before.

Their challenge started in Scotland with Ben Nevis, followed by Scafell Pike in Lake District and finished in Wales with Snowdon.

Nathan Brough, from the marketing and sales department, said: “The music industry is going through an incredibly tough period at the moment.

"It's easy at times like this to only look inward and adopt an 'every man for himself' attitude.

"We wanted to use this opportunity to give something back and raise money for a charity that do incredibly valuable work.

"The climbing itself wasn't too bad, the weather was on our side. I'm really proud of the whole team.”

Ellie Dawson, from the sales team, said: "We're so grateful to everyone who donated online and for the messages of support.

"Without a doubt, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but I'm so glad we did it. I'll be quite happy not to see another mountain for a while though.”
