THE latest contribution to our PHOTO ALBUM MEMORIES FEATURE will revive memories of the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.
The picture shows children of Hucknall’s Westville area on a decorated float before it set off to the town’s Market Place for a big celebration. As can be seen, the colourful theme of the float was ‘Ye Old English Garden’.
The photo has been loaned to the Dispatch by Norma Severn (68), of Montague Road, Hucknall, who is third from the right on the photo. Norma recalls that she had a discloated elbow at the time. But the injury did not stop her enjoyment of this very special occasion.
