Pensioners in Bulwell and Hucknall are warned to be on guard against pickpockets following a spate of purse thefts.
As many as five incidents have been reported within a ten day period, and it is thought more have gone unreported.
Inspector Christine Busuttil said: “The pickpockets usually work in a partnership. They have been targeting people aged 77 to 90 while they are browsing in shops. They will always watch their victims for some time before striking and sometimes wait for people to collect their pension.”
“Never leave your purse unattended; always carry it and keep it zipped up; don’t carry large amounts of cash; check your purse if someone bumps into you.”
