OUR thanks go to Jackie Davenport who has sent in this fantastic close-up shot of a dragonfly for our PICTURE OF THE WEEK feature.
Jackie, whose husband Tony took the photo, has lived at Co-operative Avenue in Hucknall for 25 years.
“We spotted this dragonfly on a sunflower in our garden and Tony grabbed my phone and took this picture,” explained Jackie.
“I thought it would make a great photograph for the Dispatch Picture of the Week.”
It just shows that with technology at your fingertips, you are never far away from getting a picture to be proud of.
The detail on the wings is terrific and looks like a delicate piece of lace, intricately woven.
Meanwhile, the colour changes from yellow and black on its back to a pale blue on its tail in a symmetrical pattern that looks like an African mask.
Even the texture of the sunflower stem has been picked out by the lens, revealing how the dragonfly manages to cling to the upright plant.
Now we would like more Dispatch readers to send us their pictures. They can be of absolutely anything.
Just use your imagination.
n E-MAIL your images to firstname.lastname@example.org, with PICTURE OF THE WEEK in the subject field. Please remember to include background information to the photos, plus information about yourself, such as age, address, job, family, hobbies and interests.
