Pinxton gypsy plot application refused at planning committee

Ashfield councillors have turned down an application for a gypsy pitch in Pinxton on flooding grounds .

The pitch at Oak Tree Paddock, Kirkby Lane, had initially been granted temporary consent for a change of use of the land while a detailed flooding assesment was carried out.

Councillors moved to refuse the application from Green Planning Solutions because the risk assessment was not detailed enough and did not show the area was unacceptably susceptible to flooding or would increase the potential for flooding elsewhere.

The site is located adjacent to Maghole Brookand is within two different flood zones.

Despite the decision made on 25th September, councillors said they expected to see the application come back to planning committee after numerous attempts to gain planning permission.

Coun Rachel Madden said: “I had extreme concerns about this application.

“There has been an awful lot of trouble with this site.

“There have been a number of noise and disturbances involving the police.

“We are refusing on grounds of flooding but the access to the sight also concerns me.

“It is a fast road and slow moving vehicles coming in and out are bound to create a traffic issue.”

Since 2002 Green Planning Solutions has made three applications for a change of use of the land and the removal of a planning condition, which were all refused.
