The meeting was deemed a great success and well attended.

A date for the event was decided on - Saturday 19th July - and everyone was asked to pass on the date to people in their groups.

“I am pleased to say that we had an excellent planning meeting and I would like to thank all those people who attended for their commitment and enthusiasm,” said chairman Bill Blackamore. “It augurs well for a great event.”

The aim of the event is to provide a fun filled day for all ages with something to suit everyone.

There will be a main stage and a variety of acts and performers, activities for children including a bouncy castle, creative arts, storytelling, pirate themed fancy dress activities and face painting for children.

There will be an opportunity for residents and visitors to have a go at different sports including bowls, golf, boules, tennis coaching, netball and football coaching and table tennis.

There will also be a fly-fishing demonstration and induction into use of the outdoor gym, free running display and tuition together with a variety of Health and Well-Being activities and information available.

Bill added: “It is a free event that brings our community of Bulwell together and helps them to influence, comment upon and improve quality of community life.

“Our local councillors support this event and will also be in attendance.”

Organisers are hoping to make it a bigger and better event than before and hope to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War at the event with music and song, personal histories and stories.

“If anyone has any queries or ideas as to how we can better develop this year’s event, then I would be pleased to receive them,” added Bill.

The next meeting will be held at Bulwell United Reformed Church on Tuesday 8th April at 7pm.
