A SHOWSTOPPING exhibition of pole-dancing in Hucknall fired a fundraising drive on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

An audience of more than 100 was stunned by the talents of the Pole Power Ladies, from the Nicola Martin Studios, who performed at The Empire social club and pub, off Beardall Street.

The most spectacular routine came from Nicola herself to the Def Leppard track ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’.

Thanks to owner Richard Darrington providing the venue for free, the event raised more than £450.

It was among a series of fundraisers set up by Hucknall man John Wright, of Shortwood Avenue.

He and his wife, Shirley, have raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK and their efforts culminate each year by entering a squad named Team Chaos into the annual Relay For Life.

The event involves teams being sponsored to run or walk around a track in relay for 24 hours in memory of those who have lost or are fighting a battle against cancer.

The link between pole-dancing and the charity drive came about because Kirsty Wright, the wife of John’s nephew, is a new member of Team Chaos and she and her sister take part in classes under Nicola Martin.

Team Chaos took part in the Relay For Life at Harvey Hadden Stdium in Bilborough two weekends ago. The total raised is still being counted.
