Pole-dancing crew in a spin for Cancer Research UK

EVERY year Kirsty Wright, of Hazel Meadows, Hucknall raises funds for Cancer Research UK — and her 2012 pole-dancing initiative proved a smash-hit success.

Kirsty was joined by 30 fellow students of the Nicola Martin Dance Studios to perform ‘Pole Power Takes You To The Movies’.

The show, which took place at the Plessey Club in Beeston, was watched by a sell-out audience and raised £1,074 for the charity.

Choreographed by Nicola, the event took four months to put together and featured women of different ages.

Some had been pole dancing for only six months but after a lot of hard work and bruising, they demonstrated how much strength and skill is involved.

Plessey Club manager Ancel Blatchford helped with the organisation and promotion, while Mick Holland worked wonders with the music and lighting.

The dancers performed 20 pole routines, some including burlesque, and they were well supported by teacher and vocalist Craig Deegan.

Further shows are planned at the Hucknall Empire and at the Plessey Club again during 2013.
