Police in South Normanton give youngsters road safety advice

Police in South Normanton have been talking to youngsters at a local infant school about road safety as part of a national campaign week around the issue.

PCSO Marion Jeffery of the South Normanton and Pinxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team spent time speaking with pupils at Brigg Infant School about staying safe when out and about.

She visited the school on Wednesday, November 20 and saw all the classes, teaching them the green cross code, how to use a crossing and the importance of wearing a seatbelt.

PCSO Jeffery said: “All the children behaved really well, and seemed to really listen and take on board the advice on how to stay safe, whether that be when they are crossing the road or as passengers in a car.

“It was also great for me to meet the youngsters, but most importantly I hope they will put into practise the skills they learned and stay safe while they are out and about.”

National Road Safety Week has been set up by the charity Brake is all about schools, organisations and communities taking action to promote road safety and help save lives.

The week took place between Monday, November 18 and Sunday, November 24.
