Ashfield Independents leader's pride at Hucknall and district clean sweep

The party won all three Hucknall council seats with John Willmott (Hucknall North), Lee Waters (Hucknall South) and David Shaw (Hucknall West) all overturning Conservative majorities from the last election in 2017 to unseat the Tories.
And the party went on to complete clean sweep of all 10 Ashfield seats being contested.

Hide AdThis doubled the number of seats they won in 2017 and keeps them as the third largest party in the council behind Labour (15) and the Conservatives, who won 37 seats to take overall control of the chamber.
Coun Zadrozny, the Ashfield Independents leader in the council, who held his own Ashfields seat, said: “First and foremost, I would like to thank Hucknall residents for putting their faith in our outstanding candidates.
"David Shaw, Lee Waters and John Wilmott will be excellent champions for Hucknall in County Hall.
"They will get to work fixing our broken roads and pavements, we will fight to improve our infrastructure including our opening our new surgery on Piggins Croft Car Park and will lead the fight to keep Hucknall out of Nottingham City Council’s clutches.
