Prolific shoplifter and burglar jailed for 30 months

A prolific shoplifter and burglar from Bulwell has been jailed for 30 months after he admitted a spree of crimes across the county.

Bobby Lunt, 34, of Ravensworth Road, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to offences that included 12 thefts from shops and three burglaries from commercial premises in Nottingham. He also admitted two offences of criminal damage, one attempted theft and possession of a lock-knife.

The court heard that Lunt was found with the lock-knife in his trouser pocket when he was arrested on Eaton Road, West Bridgford on Wednesday, June 6. Officers spotted him and knew he was wanted for several offences.

Among the shop thefts were stealing meat worth £157 from Sainsbury’s in Bingham, a shower from B&Q at Sutton, £250 worth of ink cartridges and CDs from Sainsbury’s in New Basford and £103 worth of alcohol from a Co-op store in Blidworth.

The burglaries were at the Park Plaza hotel, where Lunt stole £50 of alcohol, the Revolucion de Cuba restaurant, where he took £880 of alcohol, and Annie’s Burger Shack, where he stole £140 of meat and booze.

After the sentence, Insp Phil Grimwade, business crime lead for the city at Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A number of teams have worked together to secure this conviction.”
