The Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) details how the service proposes to keep people who live in, work in or travel through the county safe from fire and other incidents in the face of decreasing budgets.

This includes providing an appropriate number of fire engines in the right places, giving out fire safety advice and inspecting businesses to make sure they are adhering to fire regulations.

People can take part in the consultation by going to www.notts-fire.gov.uk, road shows will take place across the county and an independent consultation company will be contacting a sample of residents to ask them to take part in forums. “This plan not only meets our legal obligation, but also gives us the opportunity to focus our services on the needs of Nottinghamshire people,” said fire authority chairman coun Darrell Pulk.

Chief fire officer Frank Swann added: “This is the public’s chance to get involved as we draw up our plans for the next five years. We want to hear from as many people as possible, which is why we are using a variety of different methods for obtaining people’s opinions.”

Responses are being received until Sunday 2nd February and a report on the results of the consultation will be considered by the Fire Authority later that month.
