RAVENSHEAD: Sainsbury’s store plans resubmitted for village

Plans to build a Sainsbury’s Local store in Ravenshead have been resubmitted after they were thrown out by Gedling Borough Council last year.

In July Chad reported that Sainsbury’s made the application to convert a car showroom at Larch Farm into one of its local stores.

But the plan was turned down in November over road safety concerns and the company has now made a fresh application.

The site is located at the junction of Nottingham Road and Main Road, and highways staff at Nottinghamshire County Council raised concerns over an increase in traffic causing potential accidents.

Gedling Borough Council also objected to the plans as “the proposed development would not provide adequate space within the site for manoeuvring of vehicles and for delivery vehicles, which would interfere with the safety and free flow of traffic on the adjoining highway.”

Ravenshead Parish Council also objected on road-safety grounds and because they felt there had been insufficient consultation with local.
