VOLUNTEERS are needed to help children hone their reading skills at Hucknall Library this summer.
For Notts County Council is launching its annual ‘Summer Reading Challenge’ to boost levels of literacy among youngsters.
In a bid to promote reading, children aged between four and 11 are encouraged to finish at least six books during the school summer holidays.
Volunteers are needed to listen to children talk about the books they have read and to dish out stickers, certificates and rewards.
Those who take part would need to devote 12-to-15 hours a week to the scheme between Saturday July 14 and Monday September 10.
Volunteers aged 14 and above are being recruited and those aged 16 and above will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
To register an interest, call Carolyn Gallagher on 0115 925 5168, e-mail email@example.com or visit www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/libraryvolunteers. The closing date is Monday April 30.
