A roundup of recent court cases at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court

Theft

Luke Tomlinson, 32, of Alfreton Road Sutton admitted stealing two yankee candles valued at £22 each from Card Zone. He also admitted failing to surrender to custody at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court having been released on bail in criminal proceedings, and the commission of a further offence whilst subject to a conditional discharge. Committed to prison for a total of 12 weeks suspended for 12 months. Tomlinson must comply with a drug rehabilitation requirement for nine months, pay compensation of £44 and a criminal court charge of £180.

Richard James Alan Talbot, 28, of Mansfield Road, Sutton stole two packs of Pepsi cans value £10 from Asda stores and two Ariel fabric softeners from Wilkos stores at £20. Talbot also pleaded guilty to stealing meat worth £20-30 from Asda. He was given a community order for six months with a drug rehabilitation requirement, ordered to pay compensation and a £150 criminal court charge.

Tim Jordan Davis, 25, of Park Avenue, Mansfield admitted attempting to steal a concrete plant pot valued between £200-300. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months, ordered to pay a criminal court charge of £180, a victim surcharge of £15 and £100 costs. He also pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Transit without insurance, or a license for which he was fined £120, with a 6 point endorsement on his driving license.

Violence

Kirk Tyrone Bingley, 22, of Ladybrook Lane, Mansfield pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating on July 18 and August 8 this year. Committed to prison for 18 weeks in total. Offence so serious because of domestic violence, breach of trust after alcohol. Two prolonged incidents, in the first he had a hammer and the second offence was committed while on bail in breach of bail, He had a record of violence and history of failing to comply with community orders.

Garth Wayne Moses Blower, 36 of Kingsway, Kirkby, admitted assaulting a woman by beating her and damaging a mobile phone valued at £200. The offences were committed under the period of a suspended sentence order. He was committed to prison for a total of 16 weeks as a 12 week suspended sentence was implemented.

Ema Louise Dixon, 32, of Bilborough Road Ravensdale, Mansfield admitted assaulting a man by beating him. She was given a 20 days community order with a rehabilitation requirement, fined £50 and ordered to pay compensation of £100 and a victim surcharge of £60.

AAron James Turner, 27 of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to harassing and using threatening words or behaviour towards a woman at Mansfield. He was committed to prison for 14 days. Offence so serious because woman was a vulnerable person in her own home and because of his record. Turner was also ordered to pay a £80 victim surcharge and a criminal court charge of £150.

Philip Oliver Clay, 50 of Rowan Close, Kirkby pleaded guilty to threatening a ma with a knife. He was committed to prison for 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months. Offence so serious because of following injured party onto street to confront him, with a witness under 18 present. He was given a 12 month supervision order with rehabilitation activity requirement and 100 hours unpaid work requirement. He was also ordered to pay total compensation of £600, a victim surcharge of £80, costs of £85 and a criminal court charge of £180.

Beau Dean Dykes, 23 of Cromwell Street, Mansfield admitted assaulting a woman by beating her. He was ordered to participate in a 19-day thinking skills programme, to pay compensation of £200, costs of £400 and a criminal court charge of £150.

Drugs

Charles Edward Miller, 34 of Main Bright Road, Mansfield Woodhouse, pleaded guilty to possessing a quantity of amphetamine. Miller also admitted having with him articles for use in the course of a theft, namely tool gloves and torch. He was given a 20 weeks sentence suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay a criminal court charge of £180, costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £80. The drugs were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed as were the tool, torch and gloves.

Miscellaneous

Martin Robert Dunkley, 33, of Portland Heights, Huthwaite admitted fraudulently claiming for two days work totalling 33.5 hours without working those two days intending to gain £420. He was fined £340, ordered to pay £403 compensation, costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £180.

James Edward Hughes, 26, of Barringer road, Mansfield admitted carrying a pick axe in a public place without good reason or lawful authority. He was given an unpaid work requirement of 100 hours to carry out within the next 12 months, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60, costs of £620 and a criminal court charge of £180.

Rebecca Louise Fullwood, 24 of Greendale Crescent admitted damaging a black Audi car. She was given a curfew requirement of 19 days between 7pm and 7am, with electronic monitoring. She was also ordered to pay compensation of £500.
