Restrictions removed on Jubilee street-parties

RED tape is being slashed in a bid to make it easier for residents in Hucknall to hold street parties to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

One bash will be on St Mary’s Way in the town on Sunday June 3 when there will be bunting and games organised by residents Collette Parkin and Cath Evans.

In total, Notts County Council has received 176 applications to hold street parties during the extended Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday June 2 to Tuesday June 5).

But the number of official applications in Hucknall and the rest of Ashfield is just 11 so far.

Anyone organising a party must notify the county council so it can make a health and safety assessment and arrange for roads to be closed.

The process has now been made much easier.
