Rising pop pair’s Garibaldi visit

Students at Garibaldi College were visited by pop duo SD-JEM last week as part of a special session to discourage drugs use.

The brother-and-sister double act, who have recently performed with the Saturdays, attended the Forest Town school to perform to students and give a talk about the misuse of drugs.

After a few songs they discussed their experience of saying no to drugs and spoke about why they don’t smoke or drink excessively.

The event was held as part of the school’s personal and social development programme.

Teacher Neil Holbrook said: “Having positive role models deliver messages like this is really effective.

“They were brilliant and the students particularly enjoyed meeting the band afterwards and taking selfies.”

Shanel from the London-based duo is pictured with Garibaldi Student Bethany Whaley-Wright (12) at the event.
