A special event to mark National Carers’ Week was held at the Riverside Centre in Bulwell on Monday.
Carers in Hucknall was among several groups represented at the roadshow which aimed to show how agencies support carers of people with conditions which range from Alzheimers, reduced visibility, hearing and speech, to eating disorders and dependency on wheelchairs. Help available to carers includes emergency and temporary cover if they are ill or to enable them to go on holiday.
A spokesman said: “We think feedback matters a lot. An important part of our role is to listen and respond to what people say to improve our services.”
The roadshow was a curtain-raiser to a carers’, family and friends’ conference at Goosedale Conference Centre, Papplewick, on Tuesday 7th July from 10am to 3.30pm.
The keynote speaker will be Ruth Hannan, policy and development manager of the Carers’ Trust, while the organsation’s chief executive, Ruth Hawkins, will launch the trust’s new carers’ strategy for 2015 to 2018.
