A Hucknall school is appealing for local business people to support the community and join them as a Governor.
Hillside Primary and Nursery school on Roberts Lane is particularly interested in hearing from people with legal and business skills and some management experience.
A knowledge of education is not needed, as a full induction is provided.
Headteacher Dorothy Stenson said: “Governors make a significant difference to the children at Hillside. They help us to focus on improving towards our aim of becoming an ‘outstanding’ school, and provide the very best opportunities for our children.”
The school, which is an academy of the Flying High Trust, gained an Ofsted judgement of ‘Good’ with outstanding features at it’s last inspection, and showed record results in May 2014.
Peter Flint, chair of Governors, said: “Raising attainment and achievement by empowering children, parents and the local community is at the heart of the Flying High Trust. Positive relationships, and responding to the diverse needs of every child is of paramount importance.
“We would welcome members of the community to join us as Governors to take this work forward.”
Governors are responsible for determining the aims and values of the school, monitoring and keeping under review the broad policies, plans and procedures within which the school operates, ensuring local accountability, insisting that the best interests of all pupils are paramount in decision-making and being a critical friend.
