They struck at around 8.20am on Grundy Avenue on Monday, June 13 and loaded the items up with permission before driving off.

The theft has prompted police to issue a warning, with an officer saying: “We often get reports of scrap dealers touring an area looking for scrap metal.

“Do not leave any items you require in your driveways or front gardens in view of the road, it only encourages illegal dealers.

“If you have items that you need to dispose of, contact a registered dealer, who will come and collect from your property.

“You can take smaller items to your local council recycling facility, although you now need to register.”
