NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Police Authority has launched a hunt for ‘unsung heroes’ in the Dispatch district and the rest of the county who have had a positive effect on the quality of life in their communities.
This year the prestigious Jean Varnam Award will be for a volunteer, or team of volunteers, involved in an outstanding initiative or piece of work to promote community safety.
The award was launched in 2005 in memory of former magistrate Jean Varnam OBE and it is supported by her husband, Roy.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the police authority at County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7QP, by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 0300 300 9999, extension 801 2005.
The nominations should be with the police authority by midday on Monday September 15. The award will be presented at the Chief Constable’s commendation evening on Wednesday October 5.
