A last appeal is being made for people to come forward with the names of fallen soldiers that should be included on Selston’s new war memorial.

The village is set to get its own war memorial after local councillors Gail Turner and Sam Wilson began a campaign to get one erected.

It currently does not have a memorial dedicated to Selston men who lost their lives in conflict, though there are some plaques in churches.

The memorial is being funded by Nottinghamshire County, Ashfield District and Selston Parish councils and will be placed at the recreation ground.

It will honour the deaths of soldiers who have served in wars from the First World War onwards - and Coun Turner wants to make sure no names are missed off it.

“We would like to hear from anybody who has any information and feels any names should be included,” she said.

Coun Turner can be contacted on 01773 780926 or Coun Wilson on 01773 810420.
