Sharing the good news

Businesses in Mansfield are being urged to shout up about the good news stories behind their companies.

Whether its winning a big new contract, expanding premises or taking on new staff, bosses are being encouraged to tell of their success.

That was the message delivered at a seminar organised by business club Mansfield 2020.

They set up the free event to help local companies find out how they can raise their profile through effective PR.

Delegates learnt what can make a good press release and how they can use PR to promote their businesses.

Mansfield 2020 invited local PR organisation Xposure to take the delegates through the full process, from conceiving ideas and choosing media targets to taking advantage of new digital platforms.

Stephen Thirkill, news editor from the Chad also spoke to the group and provided the group with hints and tips on how to get business news stories published and the key points newspapers look for in a good news story.

He said: “There are a lot of excellent businesses across Mansfield and Ashfield and it is important that people shout up and celebrate their success stories.

“The talk gave us an excellent opportunity to advise businesses on the best way to get their stories out there and I am thankful for the opportunity from Mansfield 2020.

“Already we have been contacted by new businesses eager to get their stories in Chad.

“We look forward to working the business community in 2014 to help make our local economy stronger.”
