Shirebrook poppy planting
A special poppy planting ceremony has taken place at a Shirebrook church to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War a hundred years ago this year.
The service took place at the Holy Trinity Church, in Church Lane, Shirebrook, earlier this month.
Packets of poppy seeds have been distributed to every church school and church within the Diocese of Derby, to allow the flowers time to get established for the Centenary anniversary on 4th August. Pictured are Rev June Palmer, Winnie Palmer, Ian Hill and Chloe Evans (seven).
