The club and land, on Davies Avenue, are both owned by the council but it has not been used as a pub or social club after closing due to ‘economical conditions’.

Ashfield District Council submitted plans on 29th October.

A council spokesperson said: “The council has applied for planning permission to demolish the building because no operator will be willing to reopen a public house with this current location, design or condition and by clearing the site there is no longer a requirement or cost to keep it secure. The club is located on a council-owned site and is no longer operating due to economic conditions. It has been the target of vandalism resulting in significant damage to the building.”

The council said the club has also become a haunt for anti social behaviour and its demolition will tackle the issue.
