Space day success for school
Staff from the Leicester-based centre visited Forest View Junior School on Monday, 5th January, to help teachers introduce their new space-based study.
The Year 5 and 6 students were able to go inside a portable planetarium where they learned all about our solar system and enjoyed some speeded up star-gazing.

They then spent the rest of the day building rockets out of paper and investigating the different features that help them to travel out of the atmosphere and through space.
Teacher Sophie Robinson told Chad: “At our school we think it’s really important that the children are excited about their new topic right from the beginning of term, as it forms the basis for almost all their lessons.
“If the children are enthusiastic about the subject area, then they are much keener to write about it, research it, ask questions about it - all the while learning the skills we need to teach them. The day was a great success and we are sure the children will remember it for some time.”
