A volunteer Army reservist from Bulwell has received a special award for meritorious service.

Private Jodie Dawes (24), who serves with C (Kohima) Company 4 of the Mercian Regiment, was presented with a mounted scroll signed by the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire. It was handed over by Col David Sneath, MBE, at a presentation evening at Bulwell Army Reserve Centre on Hucknall Lane, which is the company’s barracks.

Jodie, who works as a recruit clerk, said: “I am stunned that I have been recognised in this way. I have only been doing my job.”

Col Sneath was full of praise for the dedication and hard work of Jodie and also two other C Company 4 Mercian reservists, who were given awards on the same night to recognise ten years’ military service.

They were Sgt Glenn Woodward (43), of Mansfield, who has been deployed on operations to Iraq and Afghanistan, and Private Daniel Boycott, of Mansfield Woodhouse, who initially trained as a chef and has completed two tours of Afghanistan.
