LIFELONG Bulwell resident MAGGIE LUPTON tucked into a special celebration cake, made by her daughters, to mark her 101st birthday.

Mrs Lupton (pictured), who was born in the town, now lives at the Springfield Care Home on Lawton Drive.

Her daughters, Shirley Norton (75), of Bulwell, and Joan Hage (67), of Eastwood, made the cake for a party at the home.

Despite suffering from dementia, Mrs Lupton is otherwise fit and healthy.

She has been married twice — firstly to Wilfred Gibson, who died a few years after the Second World War, and then to Charles Lupton, who died 11 years ago.

Mrs Lupton spent her working life at the Charles factory in Cinderhill where she rolled fabric for underwear and hosiery.

As well as her two daughters, Mrs Lupton has five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

When Mrs Lupton celebrated her 100th birthday, she was described by her family as a “true English lady”.

In the past, she enjoyed keeping pets, going on holiday and cooking. — DISPIC NHUD12-0481-3.
