'Spoilt brat' who became 'evil' paedophile

PAEDOPHILE Angela Allen, of Bulwell, has started an indeterminate prison-sentence for her hideous abuse of children.

The 39-year-old, of Nine Acres Gardens, Snape Wood, was part of an Internet child-porn ring with nursery worker Vanessa George (39), of Plymouth, and Colin Blanchard (38), of Rochdale.

She admitted five sexual offences against children -- two counts of sexual assault, one count of sexual assault by penetration, one count of sexual assault by touching and one count of distributing indecent images of a child.

The trio shared thousands of indecent images between them via e-mail and text.

At Bristol Crown Court, Allen was told she will serve a minimum of five years behind bars. She will not be released until she is no longer a threat to the public.

Now details have emerged about Allen's background.

Among the information is a revelation that she had only been in trouble with the police for minor offences before her shocking crimes came to light.

She started life in Manchester where she grew up with her three brothers and one sister.

But in the 1970s, she came to Nottingham where she and her siblings were removed from their parents and placed in care.

The children's home they were sent to became enveloped by claims that the youngsters were abused.

One child who was there remembers the Allens and in particular Angela, whom he said was known as 'Angie'.

He said she was "completely spoilt because she was the baby".

He added: "This led to her being a spoilt brat who would cry and scream to get what she wanted.

"As she got older, 'Angie' was very flirty with the boys."

Allen was eventually moved to another home and attended the St Teresa's Catholic Primary School and Trinity School in Aspley.

At one stage, she moved back to Manchester where she worked in a bank. But by her early 20s, she was working as a prostitute.

During investigations by the Dispatch, neighbours said Allen had only moved to Nine Acre Gardens in Snape Wood, Bulwell about seven months before her arrest.

Her home was said to be unfurnished and contained only scraps of food. Many said Allen was rarely seen in the town.
