“PHENOMENAL” was the verdict after the dust had settled on the annual fundraising spring fair at the United Reformed Church in Hucknall.
The appraisal came from Judith Christou, a stalwart at the Farleys Grove church. She added: “It was lovely. A proper spring fair. It woke us all up and made us realise spring is in the air.”
The fair raised £568, which is to be spent on initiatives designed to help the church engage more with the local community.
These will include support for regular church open days and possibly a mothers and toddlers group.
Attractions at the fair included a tombola, stalls selling home-made cakes, home-made jams and pickles, plus two raffles — one with prizes of five luxury hampers and another offering boxes of chocolates.
More than 70 meals were served by volunteers.
Added Judith: “It was a full-on day, with everyone giving it their all. A lot of people were there, and we are delighted by the result.”
