St Andrew’s Healthcare appoint new chief executive

St Andrew’s Healthcare, the UK’s leading charity providing specialist mental healthcare to the NHS, has announced that Gil Baldwin MBE will take up post as chief executive Officer in July.

The Charity, which has a facility in Mansfield, specialises in the most complex and challenging forms of mental illness, as well as learning disabilities and neuropsychiatry, and works with the NHS to provide highly specialist care to thousands of people from across the UK.

Mr Baldwin’s appointment follows the early retirement of Professor Philip Sugarman in February of this year due to health concerns.

Chairman Elect Peter Winslow said: “Our mission is to help as many people as possible who are experiencing complex mental illness. More broadly, we value our partnerships with the NHS, with universities, and with health and social care agencies across the country - and further afield - which ensure that we provide the standard of patient care that we would all want for our own friends and family.

“Many of the specialist services we provide today were pioneered by St Andrew’s and remain the only ones of their kind. Leading an organisation of our size and complexity is no easy task and it was vital to the Board that we found the right person.”

Acting Chief Executive Officer Warren Irving will continue his role as Acting CEO until Mr Baldwin joins in July 2014.
