Mansfield Town were knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal 87 years ago today.

Goals from Harold Burston Peel and David Jack secured Arsenal’s fourth round win in front of just under 45,000 fans at Highbury.

Arsenal fielded the following starting line-up: Dan Lewis, Tom Parker, Eddie Hapgood, Jack Butler, Charles Jones, Joe Hulme, James Brain, David Jack, Harold Burston Peel, Alf Baker and Billy Blyth.

Mansfield Town beat Shirebrook 4-2 away in the first round, Barrow 2-1 away in the second round and Wolves 1-0 away in the third round.

Arsenal were eventually knocked out of the cup after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Bolton Wanders triumphed in the 1929 final after beating Portsmouth 2-0 in the final.
