People who enjoy singing have been urged not to miss the opportunity to take part in the Active Ashfield Factor 2016.

This year is the second event, organised by Ashfield District Council giving residents the chance to see and take part in a fantastic cultural celebration which brings together both sport and the arts.

Auditions have already taken place in Kirkby and Selston, but there is still chance to take part in Hucknall and Sutton.

Following successful auditions, singers will be invited to take part in the Active Ashfield Factor Final on Saturday July 2 at the Active Ashfield Games Closing Ceremony event.

Carol Hallam, Community Wellbeing Team Leader at Ashfield District council said: “The auditions are for children and adults and are very informal and relaxed.

“We are not looking for established singers, but for people who enjoy singing, who want to have a go and build their confidence in performing”.

Councillor Jim Aspinall, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing at Ashfield District Council, added: “The Active Ashfield Factor is part of a programme of events organised by the Council and local partners, encouraging people to have a go at trying something new to improve their health and wellbeing.”

Applicants must pre-register to take part.

Hucknall’s audition will take place at the Believe Academy on Saturday May 14 (register by Wednesday May 11). The Final audition is on Saturday June 11 at Sutton Community Academy (register by Friday May 26).

Most events are free and include walking, running dancing, singing, taking up a sport or just coming along to inspiring events for all the family.’

Mollie Garratt, also of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, was crowned Active Ashfield Factor Champion 2015 for her rendition of Nella Fantasia at the closing event at the newly refurbished Kirkby plaza.

She was awarded a gold medal and voucher, as well as some time at a local recording studio. For more information about Active Ashfield Factor 2016, contact Carol on 01623 457410, e-mail [email protected] or visit the events page at www.activeashfield.co.uk
