Students on the University of Lincoln course were asked to nominate someone who had gone above and beyond in helping them through their three year course.
Eight staff from the Trust were recognised ‘for the outstanding support demonstrated to these student nurses’.
Those nominated were: Sandra Lambert, Adele Kennedy and Darryl Bestwick from the Daycase Unit at King’s Mill Hospital, Tom Hunt from Ward 43 and Sarah Lounds from the Emergency Department, Stephanie Hendrie from Chatsworth Unit at Mansfield Community Hospital and Nicola Fowkes from Minster Ward at Newark Hospital.
Alison Stephenson from the operating theatres at Newark Hospital was not only nominated but went on to be listed in the top five of the 45 mentor nominations.
Newark Hospital’s Nicola Fowkes was named as one of two runners up.
“So many of our staff being nominated by their student nurses is a real success for the Trust at a time when we are experiencing great change,” said Susan Bowler, executive director of nursing and quality at the Trust.
“It demonstrates what an excellent team of motivated and committed staff we have, who go that extra mile to mentor our students in practice. It is great to see some of these students have now secured newly-qualified posts here.”
