Students set up music website

West Nottinghamshire College students are seeing the fruits of their musical labour via a new website which is helping to bring new music talent onto the scene.

The website, createrecords.co.uk, is fast becoming the platform for students to showcase their musical technology, singing and songwriting and video editing skills.

Students on the BTEC in Music Technology have been key players in setting up the website which features music videos of up-and-coming bands and links to their own original recorded material.

Media students at the college have also worked with the group to record interviews with bands in the television studio.

Music diploma student Ashley Wain, 18, who is in a band called Layby, has featured on the website with his pop-punk style music as well as helping to build up the new website.

Ashley, from Sutton, said: “On this course, not only are we getting experience in recording and editing in the live room and control room and learning about the various roles in the music industry, but we’re also discovering how best to market and promote new music by creating our website.”
