Success for Holgate’s film studies students in Young Creative Awards

Students from Holgate Academy attended the Young Creative Awards (YCA) in Nottingham last month at the Royal Centre.

The awards ceremony celebrates the creative achievements of people aged 13-24 in 10 different categories from across the district.

Holgate’s Year 10 Film Studies group produced a film called Offside which was nominated for an award in the 13-15 age category.

After successfully achieving ‘Best Young Person’s Film’ at the Gedling Film Festival, the film was also successful at the YCA.

The class won a cheque for £100 and a certificate to commemorate their success.

“I’d like to thank all the pupils and parents who came to the event to support our students,” said film studies teacher Mr James Morgan. “We look forward to sharing our next film with you.”
