Suspended sentence for attack on partner

A Mansfield man has been given a suspended sentence after assaulting his partner and smashing up her home, a court has heard.

Christopher Wayne Cale (43), of Princes Street, appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 21st May, charged with assaulting Jodie Smith and causing criminal damage.

The offences happened between 22nd and 23rd March, when Cale damaged items including a TV, microwave, toaster and washing machine.

He also caused damage to cupboard doors, a wall and a toilet seat, the court heard.

He was jailed for 20 weeks, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £500 in compensation.

Magistrates also placed Cale on 12 month supervision and restraining orders.
