Andrew George James 39 of Michaels Street Sutton pleaded guilt at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court to stealing a wireless speaker valued at £20 from Tesco stores.

The court heard he was seen taking the speaker from the store at the Oak Tree Centre on November 4. He told police it was his son’s birthday and he had wanted the device.

Unfortunately his money had not come through and he did not have the cash to pay for it.

The court heard he was appearing while on bail for a separate offence.

He was given a 28 days sentence suspended for nine months with £85 costs and victim surcharge of £115.
