James Michael Spedding, 18, of Southwell Road West, pleaded not guilty to the robbery charge at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on February 18, and he was ordered to abide by a 10pm to 7am curfew until his trial at Nottingham Crown Court on April 21.

Mark Salt, prosecuting, said police officers called at the Southwell Road West address on March 30 and April 2 but did not find Spedding.

Morgan Hogarth, defending, said: “He went to sleep in the van because there was no room at the address.”

Magistrates ordered Spedding to be fitted with an electronic tag so the curfew could be monitored even while he is in the van.
