Thieves have stolen a winning crown from Mansfield bus station.

The crown was a winning entry in a competition held to celebrate the queens 90th birthday - but it was stolen from the station on Friday.

Interchange officer Debbie Mcilwaine said: “The design was made into a 3D crown and following display at the bus station was to be handed over to the child to keep. If anyone knows of it’s whereabouts please return it to Mansfield Bus Station. A lot of time, effort and love goes into these events and one mindless act causes heartache for those involved.”

The competition ran during April with the winners receiving the chance for their design to be made into a 3D replica and displayed at the bus station.

Following the display the winners were presented with their crowns to take away with them.

Debbie added: “We are hoping whoever did this will return the crown if they have just done it as some sort of joke.

“The crowns are made by one of our very talented team members during his own free time and he puts a lot of work into them.”
