Thieves target unlocked homes

Police have warned that three of the four burglaries reported last week in the Hucknall area were from unlocked homes.

Inspector Nick Butler said: “The three properties were in some way insecure so please do not make it easy for the thief, make sure your doors and windows are kept locked especially at night.

A black and red Aprilia RS motorbike with keys, a helmet and a wallet were stolen from an unlocked house on Nottingham Road between 10pm on Wednesday July 22 and 7.40am the next day.

A bag containing a purse, cash and credit cards were stolen from an unlocked house in Park Avenue, Annesley Woodhouse, sometime between 9am and 11.10am on Friday July 24.

Between 8pm on Sunday 26 and 11.30am Monday July 27 in Laughton Crescent, Hucknall an attempt was made to gain entry to a house. A back door was damaged but no entry was gained.

An Xbox, TV and a backdoor key were stolen from a house in Linnet Way, between 6.30pm on Monday July 27 and 6.50pm the next day.

It is thought the thieves broke in through a ground floor window.

Thieves forced open the French doors of a house on Papplewick Lane, and some copper piping, electric cable, some hand tools and a drill were stolen. The break-in happened sometime between 5pm on Tuesday July 28 and 7am the next day.

Between Saturday July 25 and 7am Monday July 27 in High Street, Hucknall an attempt was made to steal the wheel trims of a Ford Mondeo parked at the rear of a property.

At 11pm on Saturday 25 July in Broxtowe Drive, Hucknall the bonnet of a BMW 3 Series was scratched with a glass solar light. On Monday July 27 in Abbots Drive, Hucknall, a car window was smashed.
