Things ‘on the up’ for punk outfit Hung Like Hanratty

Ashfield-based punk outfit Hung Like Hanratty will be bringing their uniquely comic style to a free gig on Friday, to celebrate a new record deal.

The band has recently signed to Under Dogz records and their debut album Human Pig is now available.

Warmly received by music critics, the album - which is available through Amazon, iTunes and at HMV - features such favourites as The Devil Went Down to Wetherspoons, Danny is a Tranny, Gordon the Traffic Warden and Nowhere to Park.

The lads will be performing at the New Cross, in Outram Street, Sutton, on Friday, 23rd May as part of a free music event.

Bands will play from around 6pm, with Hung Like Hanratty expected on stage at around 10pm.

Front man Al Sation told Chad: “Getting signed was amazing and we’ve had some fantastic gigs recently, including supporting the Damned.

“It’s all down to the Chad really as a lot of people starting to follow us after we were in the paper, so we’re really grateful for that.

“I was in Whitby on holiday recently and I was wearing a Hung Like Hanratty t-shirt and this bloke came up and said, ‘they’re really good’.

“He was going on and on about us, but he didn’t seem to know I was the lead singer and I didn’t tell him.”

The band will also be performing as part of the Under Dogz Mansfield Punk Rebellion at the New Cross in November. For more details on releases and gigs, follow them on Facebook.
