In a bid to support King’s Mill Hospital, Mansfield Community Hospital and Millbrook Mental Health Unit, volunteer-run charity the League of Hospital Friends has raised £5,000 with the support of Mansfield and Ashfield shoppers.

The event held at the John Fretwell Centre took place on 13th November and saw shoppers browsing a wide range of clothes, jewellery and gift stalls.

Barbara Joule, chairman of the League of Hospital Friends and on the hospitals’ board of trustees, said volunteers worked hard to make the event a success.

“It went extremely well and they made £5,000, it couldn’t have gone better.

“It was very busy with more than 200 people and the ladies who organised it worked extremely hard, it was great,” She said.

Around 20 volunteers from the Fund Raising Committee organised the event at the Sookholme-based centre.

The charity works with hospitals to raise money for hospitals and social care in their communities.

It has also recently set up a shop in Sutton on Outram Street to put its profits straight back into the hospital.

Ms Joule added: “The volunteers have been absolutely fantastic and I want to thank them all, they did everything themselves for the event and it was a fantastic effort.”
