A weather warning is in place for most of the country today with gales expected.
Today: sunshine and scattered showers, sometimes heavy. Very windy with gusts 45 to 55 mph, but possibly locally to 60 or 65 mph with squally showers inland, over the Peak District and along the coast. Feeling noticeably colder. Maximum Temperature 10C.
Tonight: scattered showers at first, mainly across Derbyshire, will gradually die away to leave a clear night. It will become chilly as the wind eases a little. Minimum Temperature 4C.
There’s the potential for disruption to travel and possible damage to trees. Difficult driving conditions will result, perhaps exacerbated by surface water and spray in places.
